Writing Software: Free Versions

We offer two opportunities to evaluate the Writer's Software Companion interface and many of its features:

Storyline Interactive is a self-contained program that includes a few of the features and a small amount of the content of the complete Companion. You will get help with the beginnings, middles, and ends of stories and novels, and you will sample some aspects of the Companion's navigational approach. You'll have access to a surprising variety of learning documents, an interactive learning laboratory, a "My Notes" pad, and more. You'll also find annotated examples and interactive "Questions and Answers" by Nancy Kress. Storyline is freeware; you may freely copy and share the program with friends or colleagues.

The Writer's Software Companion Demo Version offers the same content as Storyline, and a guided tour of the additional features of the Companion. Although most of the features examined are disabled, you will see how the Companion offers comprehensive treatment of the subject matter and a wide variety of information access approaches.

After installation for either program, you'll need 3 MB hard disk space, a 486 - 50 Mhz processor or better, and at least 8 MB RAM (computer memory).
